Ski trip death 'devastates' school

A 13-year-old British girl has died during a school ski trip after falling from a chairlift at the resort of Claviere in Italy, a local police spokesman has said. The principal of the Middlesex academy said staff and pupils are "devastated".

Report: Ski firm says schoolgirl died in chair lift incident

A company specialising in school skiing trips said a pupil from a Middlesex academy died today in a chair lift incident in Italy, the Daily Mail has reported.

The company, Skibound, reportedly said: "Skibound regrets to confirm that a pupil from Guru Nanak Sikh Academy in Hayes, Middlesex,has been involved in a fatal incident in the ski resort of Claviere in the Piemonte region of Italy.

"The Company’s Operations Centre received notification that a female pupil had been involved in an incident on a chair lift during her morning ski school lesson.

"Italian emergency services arrived at the scene, but unfortunately she was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital."
