British girl, 13, 'killed on Italy school skiing trip'

Italian police have said a 13-year-old British girl has died after falling from a chair lift at the skiing resort of Claviere, according to the Daily Mail.

A spokesman for Turin police reportedly said: "A 13-year old British girl died this morning after falling from chair lift in Claviere at 9.30am.

"She was on a school trip and was skiing with her teachers and classmates. She got on the lift but fell soon after it started from a height of around 6 metres.

"We don't know yet if she didn't get on properly or if she fell because the barrier wasn't down. She was taken to hospital but died on the way, presumably from a cardiac arrest.

"Further investigations are in progress."
