Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has suffered more complications following complex cancer surgery in Cuba and remains in a "delicate" condition, the vice-president said.
Nicolas Maduro said in a televised statement broadcast after visiting the leader in hospital:
"President Chavez's state of health continues to be delicate, with complications that are being attended to in a process that is not without risks."
The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
The US president also shared a post on Twitter accusing Dr Anthony Fauci of misleading the public over hydroxychloroquine.
