Former President George Bush Sr's condition has improved enough for him to be moved out of the intensive care unit and into a regular patient room at the Houston hospital where he has been receiving treatment, a spokesman has confirmed.
Bush, 88, entered the Methodist Hospital on 23rd November with bronchitis. He was sent to intensive care last Sunday after setbacks including a persistent fever.
"The Bushes thank everyone for their prayers and good wishes," said a statement from the former president's spokesman.
The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
The US president also shared a post on Twitter accusing Dr Anthony Fauci of misleading the public over hydroxychloroquine.
