The chief of staff at the hospital where George Bush Snr is being treated has said that the former US president is likely to remain in hospital for "a while".
"He is 88 years old, he had a terrible case of bronchitis which then triggered a series of complications," Jean Becker wrote in a statement.
"Is he sick? Yes. Does he plan on going anywhere soon? No. He has every intention of staying put.
"He would ask me to tell you to please 'put the harps back in the closet,'" she added.
The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
The US president also shared a post on Twitter accusing Dr Anthony Fauci of misleading the public over hydroxychloroquine.
