The Met Office has issued a severe cold weather alert for North East England and Yorkshire and the Humber.
It also issued lower level alerts for North West England, West Midlands, East Midlands and the East of England.
The Met Office said, "Cold weather is expected to continue through to Sunday with widespread overnight frosts expected".
"Rain may be preceded by hill snow over the Pennines before less cold conditions become established", it added.
The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
The US president also shared a post on Twitter accusing Dr Anthony Fauci of misleading the public over hydroxychloroquine.
