George HW Bush's office has released a statement after he was readmitted to hospital in Houston, Texas.
It says: "President Bush has been in and out of The Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center being treated for complications related to his bronchitis.
"He is in [a] stable condition, and is expected to be released within the next 72 hours."
The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
The US president also shared a post on Twitter accusing Dr Anthony Fauci of misleading the public over hydroxychloroquine.
