Crime Minister Jeremy Browne has told Daybreak that the Government is still fully committed to criminalising breaches of forced-marriage.
He said: "We have to send a very clear signal as a modern advanced country that this is something that is not tolerated in this society.
"I think that this is important that we have a framework of law that supports that as well."
The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
