There were expletive-laden chants of "you're not wanted here", and signs reading 'Benitez out' - coupled with songs and banners hailing the sacked Roberto Di Matteo.
And fans outside the stadium told ITV News that Benitez will "never be a Chelsea man" and he is "not the right man" for the job.
