Villas-Boas: Di Matteo axe is 'just another day' at Chelsea

Andre Villas-Boas has hit out at Chelsea following the surprise sacking of Roberto Di Matteo, who succeeded him in the Stamford Bridge hot seat.

The Tottenham manager said: “At Chelsea, I think another sacking is just like any other day at the office.”

He praised Di Matteo – who outlasted Villas-Boas’ tenure by five days - for winning two major trophies during his nine months in charge.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has now sacked seven managers since he bought the club nine years ago.

Rafa Benitez has been appointed as the club's interim manager until the end of the season and will meet players at the club's Cobham training ground this morning.
