Paul Gambaccini 'waiting 30 years' for Savile allegations to emerge

Radio and TV presenter Paul Gambaccini told ITV1’s Daybreak that he’s been “waiting 30 years” for allegations of sexual assault by Jimmy Savile to emerge.

Mr Gambaccini said: “He was not all good, he was not all bad, he’s an enigma."

"The lynch mob will be out this week. I’ve been waiting for this to come out for 30 years, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t raise millions for charity.”

On the timing of the documentary, Gambaccini added: “It comes out when he’s dead because Jimmy Savile had an imperial personality in show business, I'm not talking about personal life. You just didn’t mess with Jim."
