Alastair Cook has faced his first tough decision as England's new cricket captain in deciding whether to allow batsman Kevin Pietersen back into the fold.
He took over from Andrew Strauss at the end of last month. Strauss said at the time that the Pietersen affair "hadn't been a consideration" in his decision to resign, although it was widely felt that he was angry about it.
Cook will have to balance up the advantage that Pietersen's talent and experience would bring to the side against other considerations.
The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
