Subway lines were shut down in the capital New Delhi and in Kolkata as a result of power blackouts, according to local media. It caused chaos for commuters during rush hour in two of India's most populous cities.
The massive blackout affected around 600 million people in the northern and eastern states of India, and follows smaller blackouts on Monday.
The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
The US president also shared a post on Twitter accusing Dr Anthony Fauci of misleading the public over hydroxychloroquine.
