Oldham parents' tribute to son

The parents of two-year-old Jamie Heaton, who died in a suspected gas explosion in Greater Manchester, have paid tribute to their "unique" son. A man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter over the incident has been released on bail.

Oldham explosion suspect bailed

A man arrested in connection with an explosion in Shaw has been released on bail. Greater Manchester Police have said:

A man has been bailed pending further inquiries following an explosion in Oldham that claimed the life of two-year-old Jamie Heaton.

At about 11.15am on Tuesday 26 June 2012, officers were on patrol in the Shaw area when they heard a loud explosion. The body of Jamie was found inside one of the houses.

A 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter has been bailed until 9 August 2012 pending further inquiries.

Another man, aged 27, was taken to hospital for treatment to burn injuries and he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A thorough search and rescue operation was led by GMFRS following the incident and no one else was significantly hurt following the incident.
