Former Senator John Edwards appeared outside court in North Carolina to thank his supporters and his family for standing by him during his criminal trial for campaign fraud.
He started by thanking the jurors for their diligence and welcomed their "fair and just" result.
Thank goodness we live in a country that has the kind of system that we have and I think that those jurors were an exemplar for what juries are supposed to do in this country. [...]
I want to make sure that everyone hears from me that while I do not believe I did anything illegal, or ever thought I was doing anything illegal, I did an awful, awful lot that was wrong. There is no one else responsible for my sins.
He said he did not think God was through with him, and that he still had a lot of work to do in his life.
The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
The US president also shared a post on Twitter accusing Dr Anthony Fauci of misleading the public over hydroxychloroquine.
