QPR footballer Joey Barton has been banned for a total of 12 matches by the Football Association following his red card at Manchester City.
Along with a £75,000 fine, today's eight-match suspension for two charges of violent misconduct will run alongside the four-game suspension Barton was already given for his dismissal in the fixture, making a total of 12 matches.
Barton was shown a red card for elbowing Carlos Tevez and then kicked Sergio Aguero before attempting to headbutt Vincent Kompany.
QPR are expected to appeal.
