Cardinal apology to abuse victim

The leader of the Catholic church in Ireland, Cardinal Sean Brady, has apologised to a victim of paedophile priest Brendan Smyth. Brendan Boland was among those targeted by the predatory sex attacker in 1975.

Cardinal Sean Brady has no plans to resign

Cardinal Sean Brady has said he intends to remain on as primate "until I'm 75, or unless the Holy See [Vatican] indicated it didn't want me to stay".

The cardinal said there was absolutely no indication from the Holy See that it wanted him to resign.
