Titanic 100th anniversary

A series of events are being held to mark the 100th anniversary of the Titanic disaster of April 1912. Relatives of the victims are attending a memorial service commemorating the ship setting sail from Southampton 100 years ago.

Titanic memorial ships reenact distress calls at the site of disaster

The two Titanic memorial cruise ships - the Azamara from New York City and MS Balmoral from Southampton - have met at the at the site where the Titanic sank 100 years ago today.

A memorial service for the victims was held on board at 2.20am local time. Wireless officer Joseph Allen sent a morse code distress signal as part of the reenactment of the disaster and passengers threw wreaths into the sea.
