New takeover bid for Newcastle United?

It's been reported that a former Manchester United Chief Executive is putting together a bid to buy Newcastle United football club.

It's believed Peter Kenyon, who also spent time at Chelsea, is working with a New York based capital management firm on the bid.

If they're successful, it would end Mike Ashley's time as Newcastle's owner.

The club was unable to comment.

Fans arriving for Saturday's game against Leicester at St.James Park told ITV Tyne Tees they largely welcomed the news.
