Suspected unexploded World War Two bomb found on Sunderland beach

Police are at the scene of what is thought to be an unexploded world war two bomb on a beach in Wearside.

The bomb was found yesterday on a beach in Hendon. Northumbria Police say officers are currently working to identify the object:

At 5.50pm yesterday evening (Monday, August 23) police were informed what appears to be an old unexploded world war bomb was found on the beach in Hendon.

It has not been confirmed what the object is however Police Search Advisor and Explosive Ordnance Disposal will attend the beach as a precaution to ensure the device is safe and is disposed of safely."
