VJ Day: North East marks 70th anniversary
Wreaths were laid at a war memorial in Mowbray Park, Sunderland, this morning as part of a service to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War with Japan.

Among those attending the service, at Sunderland's war memorial, was World War Two veteran Len Gibson. He was a Japanese prisoner of war 70 years ago and wanted to take part today:
