Workers at Barbour begin six-day strike
Workers at a Barbour warehouse in Gateshead today began a six-day strike.
The staff at the jacket-maker's factory, in South Shields, are not on strike. The action in Gateshead is over changes to working conditions. According to the Unite union, it comes after changes to the workers' contracts that mean they now have to work until 11pm without any longer receiving an unsocial hours payment.
Staff are striking from 7.30am to 1.30pm today, Friday 19 December, Monday 22, Tuesday 23, Monday 5 January and Tuesday 6 January.
Barbour have not yet commented on the strike.
