Police are investigating reports of an armed robbery at a jewellers on Yarm High Street.
It happened just before 5pm today.
Cleveland Police say they are investigating reports that the men responsible were armed however there are no reports of any shop staff or members of the public being injured.
Police officers remain in the area this evening in a bid to trace the raiders who are believed to have left in a light coloured vehicle.
A police spokesman says members of the public should not be unduly alarmed - although they stress the need to catch those responsible as soon as possible.
Anyone with information is urged asked to contact Cleveland Police as a matter of urgency.
