A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man who was stabbed in North Shields.
Police received a report of a man with a knife threatening another man on Aldwych Drive at about 2.30 on Saturday morning.
When they arrived officers found a 43-year-old man with a stab wound to his thigh.
He was taken to North Tyneside Hospital but was pronounced dead at later in the morning.
A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit GBH and a 21-year-old man on suspicion of GBH.
Both are currently helping police with enquiries.
