A letter from one half of legendary comedy duo Laurel and Hardy that was sent to a family friend has sold for £1,400 today in Newcastle.
The letter was sold at Anderson and Garland's Fine Art & Antiques sale by Mrs Miller's daughter, also called Margaret, who is now 88 and lives in Hexham.
A spokesman for Anderson and Garland said they are "delighted" with the sum.
"I would personally like to thank the local community for their amazing donations of food, toiletries and clothing. "
Owners John and Irene Hays say there is ''light at the end of the tunnel'', after the pandemic forced them to close 650 UK stores.
There has been resistance to calls to dismantle memorials to the explorer.
