Extras and cast members from one of the most iconic films ever shot in the North East are being sought for an event to celebrate the location of one of its infamous scenes.

A plaque is to will be unveiled later this month on the site of the 'Get Carter' car park in Gateshead.

As part of the commemoration, a collection of period vehicles will be present and a VIP screening of the 70s British gangster film itself will take place.

Producers recruited some of the cast members and many of the extras from the North East.

Now Gateshead Council is appealing for anyone involved in the making of the film to come along to be part of the special day.

The car park was demolished in 2010.

It has now been transformed into the Trinity Square development.
