Comic fans have complained of waiting for hours to get into the film and comic convention at Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena. Some said they had had to leave without ever getting in at all, even though they had bought tickets in advance.

Hundreds of superheroes angered by queue size

Hundreds of sci-fi and comic book fans vented their frustration after being forced to wait for hours outside the Newcastle Film and Comic Con, one of the first and largest conventions of its kind in the North East.

People from across Britain - many in fancy dress and with children - descended on Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena for the event, the Newcastle Film and Comic Con 2014, but some told ITV Tyne Tees the event was a "shambles", as they spent the afternoon queuing outside.
