A fire at a wood recycling plant on Teesside that broke out before Christmas has now been extinguished.
Steve McCarten, from Cleveland Fire Brigade, said:
"The fire fighting strategy taken was to control the incident while it burnt itself out.
This was seen as the best course of action in terms of safety and minimising the impact on local residents.
In the closing stages, we were then in a position to dampen down the stack of wood and the fire has now been extinguished by ourselves and SembCorp Fire services using jets and monitors."
"I would personally like to thank the local community for their amazing donations of food, toiletries and clothing. "
