Firefighters say a blaze at a recycling plant on Teesside could burn for several more days.
The fire at the Wilton site near Redcar started a week ago in a pile of 16 thousand tonnes of wood.
It was brought under control but high winds have fanned the flames, causing the fire to spread and smoke to blow across the town.
Redcar MP Ian Swales and Vicki Hughes from UK Wood Recycling gave this reaction.
"I would personally like to thank the local community for their amazing donations of food, toiletries and clothing. "
Owners John and Irene Hays say there is ''light at the end of the tunnel'', after the pandemic forced them to close 650 UK stores.
There has been resistance to calls to dismantle memorials to the explorer.
