It began as a missing person's inquiry. A search for a 55-year-old grandmother who suddenly vanished from her Chester-le-Street home.
But after an exhaustive search, Pamela Jackson's badly beaten body was found in a shallow moorland grave more than 100 miles away.
Today, September 27, after a five week trial her former partner Adrian Muir - the man who had killed her and driven her there hoping to escape justice - was found guilty of her manslaughter - and not guilty of murder by a jury at Newcastle Crown Court.
