Pardew says Newcastle business done

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew says the club have completed all their January business and that no more players will be joining or leaving St James' Park during this transfer window.

Speaking ahead of Thursday's 11pm transfer deadline, Pardew said: "This year we've obviously done our work early, and we've got the players in that we felt we needed.

"But there's definitely no-one going out, and that's the key. A couple of enquiries, but they were no's."

Magpies owner Mike Ashley was spotted leaving the club's training ground today. Regarding his visit, Pardew said: "Mike was here today because I think he wanted to see the new players and just welcome them to the club.

"We've worked hard to get into this position, and now what we've got to do is make sure the team is strong enough between now and the end of the year."
