ITV's Text Santa Appeal is all about raising money for six UK charities that are helping someone near you. We’re starting to reveal what treats we have in-store for our viewers in our live charity appeal show on Friday the 21st of December.
As part of the Text Santa Appeal we've been looking at the work done by the six charities that the money will go towards helping.
One of the charities involved in this year's ITV Text Santa appeal is Whizz-Kidz.
One of the young people that they have helped is Jamie Green from Malton in North Yorkshire.
Jamie has cerebral palsy.
Derek Proud went to meet him at Durham University where he is currently studying.
"I would personally like to thank the local community for their amazing donations of food, toiletries and clothing. "
Owners John and Irene Hays say there is ''light at the end of the tunnel'', after the pandemic forced them to close 650 UK stores.
There has been resistance to calls to dismantle memorials to the explorer.
