A marine who dodged Taliban bullets and bombs in Afghanistan is among a group of five men about to cycle around the world.
Tom McPartland from Teesside is joining four friends for the epic trip to raise money for Health Poverty Action and Macmillan Cancer Support.
The team will cycle from England to Australia and then across the United States.
