Reacting to Joshua Cryer's sentence, a Newcastle University spokesperson said:
"Newcastle University has strict disciplinary procedures in place to deal with any illegal conduct from our students.
"A University disciplinary panel will meet to discuss this case and recommend the appropriate action."
