Tyne Tees Holocaust

An oaktree sapling planted in Tynemouth Park to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Association of Jewish Refugees has been snapped in two.

Services are being held across the region to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. It is 71 years since the liberation of Auschwitz.

North East sporting personalities have taken part in a relay race to mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
