Bradley Lowery honoured at the Pride of the North East awards

Jermain Defoe has tweeted a heart-warming message to Bradley Lowery who turned six this week. Bradley, who has a rare form of cancer, has become "best mates" with Jermain.

Last night, the footballer presented Bradley with a 'Child of Courage' award at the Pride of the North East awards.

Bradley Lowery's mum Gemma says she often receives messages from people living with illnesses like Bradley's saying they are inspired by his strength.

Speaking on the red carpet at the very first Pride of the North East awards ceremony, Gemma says these are memories of a lifetime.
