North East comedian Brendan Healy dies after cancer battle

The funeral of North East entertainer Brendan Healy has taken place in Newcastle.

The service, at St Robert's Church in Fenham, was attended by family, and a host of well-known faces.

Mr Healy died of cancer, on February the 18th, aged 59.

The entertainer died after a battle with cancer last month.

Laughter and tears flowed at the first Sunday for Sammy show since the death of Brendan Healy.

The fundraiser, starring Geordie performers was dedicated to the comedian who died from cancer earlier this month.

The sell out gala, held at Newcastle City Hall, started and ended with a tribute to the man described as the heart, soul and talent behind a beloved local institution.

Geordie comedian, musician and actor Brendan Healy, has died after a long battle with cancer.

It's been confirmed he died last night with his family by his side.

He was 59.

He was best known for his performances in pantomimes at the Tyne Theatre in Newcastle.
