Former Tyne Tees star Kathy Secker dies aged 70

Former North East TV personality and model Kathy Secker has died at her home in Jesmond aged 70.

She was loved by a generation of viewers as the presenter of the birthday slot announcing celebratory messages.

Kathy was a much-loved face across the North East for more than twenty years. Former colleagues joined friends and family at her funeral in Newcastle.

The funeral has taken place of the former Tyne Tees presenter Kathy Secker.

Former colleagues joined friends and family for the service in Newcastle this lunchtime (December 30).

They heard Kathy described as a star and an incredible figure in North East broadcasting.

Kathy Secker: Honouring the life of a Tyne Tees star

Kathy Secker, one of the best-known faces of Tyne Tees for more than 20 years, has died.

Kathy, 70, was a household name in the region, starting first as a continuity announcer and then as a presenter.

As well as her media work Kathy helped to raise money for a charity in Sunderland providing respite care for children.
