Two severe flood warnings in place for the River Tyne at Corbridge
The Environment Agency has issued two severe flood warnings for the River Tyne at Corbridge. It says flooding is expected and residents in the area are being told to take immediate action.

Flood Alert on River Tyne from Hexham to Wylam
The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for the River Tyne between Hexham and Wylam. Heavy rain is expected in the Tyne valley from 10pm this evening. Flooding could occur between 12pm and 4am on Thursday 10th December. Corbridge, which was badly flooded last weekend, may be affected.
Corbridge residents' spirit not dampened by floods
Over 60 houses were evacuated in Corbridge, Northumberland, over the weekend as levels on the River Tyne rose to record levels after Storm Desmond.
The floods caused chaos and destruction across the town, but the annual Christmas event went ahead last night, and was attended by large numbers of people.
Shops stayed open late for those hunting for Christmas gifts, and there was a Christmas tree festival and carol singing event to keep attendees entertained.
Local business owner Albert Weir commended the positive spirit in the town, despite the recent floods:

Tyne and Wear firefighters keep residents safe from storm Desmond
As storm Desmond battered the region over the weekend, crews from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service worked hard to ensure residents stayed as safe as possible.
Between 9am on Saturday (December 5) to 9am hours on Sunday (December 6) firefighters attended 75 weather-related incidents.
They included:
• unsafe chimneys • roofs with loose structures • hoarding signs • walls fallen/partially fallen • a gable end collapse • an unsafe garage roof • unsafe scaffolding and trees
All structures were cordoned off and made safe by the Fire and Rescue Service.

Shelter's emergency helpline for flood victims
Following this weekend's severe flooding, housing charity Shelter has set up a temporary emergency helpline number offering expert housing advice to anyone affected– on 0344 515 2370.

'Swaying' Newcastle mosque needs work
Structural engineers have assessed the minaret at Newcastle Central Mosque and Islamic Centre after it began swaying in the dangerously in high winds. ITV News Tyne Tees took this video.
They have told mosque administrators that work needs to be carried out to make the structure more safe in high winds.

One of the communities hard hit by Storm Desmond is Haydon Bridge in Northumberland, which lies on the River South Tyne.
It's the second time Avril Kirsopp's house has been flooded. Residents say the water hit here first, and many homes were affected..
Avril says the carpet was floating up the skirting board, and was over the top of her wellies. She struggled to get out of the house.
In an emotional interview with Frances Read, Avril said that the flooding has ruined her life.
Flooding update: North Yorkshire
Homeowners in North Yorkshire are counting the cost of overnight flooding.
In Boroughbridge the River Ure burst its banks as the river level rose more than two metres above it's normal.
Several properties near the river were flooded as water levels peaked in the early hours.
Householders were today trying to pump floodwater away from their homes.

Parts of the region remain under water this lunchtime after a weekend of wild weather.
Elsewhere, big clean-ups are underway in the wake of Storm Desmond.
