On a visit to Teesside today, Boris Johnson has praised what called the potential of the North East economy. He also backed calls for full dualling of the A1, and had his first taste of a regional delicacy, the parmo.

Boris tucks in to North East delicacy on visit to region
On a visit to Teesside, the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has sampled a parmo for the first time.
Boris visited Conyers School in Yarm this lunchtime.
The Conservative mayor attended a mock question time with children at the school.
He praised the North East as being a vital contributor to the UK economy.
When asked about full dualing of the A1, Johnson backed the cause, saying the government should dual the whole of the A1.
He may have been caught on the hop, adding: 'Have I just committed us to something?'
Incidentally, for those that don't know, a parmo is a Teesside delic acy consisting of deep-fried chicken in bread crumbs topped with a white sauce and cheese.
