Blyth Spirit: Spartans downed by Birmingham

Two goals in the first half had Blyth Spartans FC dreaming of an FA Cup upset, but Birmingham City came back strong in the second half to equalise then take the lead.

Part-time barman Robbie Dale scored both goals towards the end of the first half, to the delight of the horde of home fans in the 4,400 capacity stadium.

Lee Novak got Birmingham City on the scoreboard early in the second half before two goals from Wes Thomas sealed their place in the fourth round.

Blyth Spartans fans have arrived at Croft Park dressed as Spartans in full support of their team as they face Birmingham City.

Some introduced themselves to the opposition's manager, Gary Rowett ahead of the FA cup third round tie, which kicks off at 3pm.

Gateshead FC prepare for FA cup third round

Non-league Gateshead FC take on Premier League side West Brom in the third round of the FA cup this afternoon.

The club has tweeted from the changing rooms and the pitch as players make their final preparations.

Gateshead MP Ian Mearns has also wished them luck.
