Here are a selection of photos taken by Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team during last night's operation to free up to 100 vehicles trapped by snow on the A68 on the border of Northumberland and Scotland.
Many of the motorists were stuck for three hours.

Heavy snowfall over Carter Bar on Wednesday night left 100 cars stranded in drifts on both sides of the border. Border Search and Rescue Unit were called out along with neighbouring Tweed Valley and teams from Northumberland to work with police in rescuing people.
In an operation lasting until the early hours, cars and lorries were towed back to clear road and to continue their journey from the border crossing on the A68.

Drivers stuck in snow in County Durham
Durham Police say a number of vehicles are stuck in the snow on the A68 at Waskerley, north of Stanhope.
There is heavy snow in parts of the county, including Durham city and Consett.
Drivers are being urged to be prepared for snowy and icy conditions.
