A body has been found and named by rescue teams searching for a man who ran into the sea after his dog. A woman was rescued and taken to hospital. The man has been named as Alex Hardy, 32, from the Stockton area. A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Stockton man named as body found in sea search
The RNLI says the tragic death of a man who went into the sea to try to rescue his dog should serve as a warning.
The man has been named as 32-year-old Alex Hardy from Stockton. He was walking with his partner and their two dogs in the Hendon area of Sunderland when he went into the water after one of the animals. His body was recovered earlier today.

This morning, Tuesday, 23rd September, a body was recovered from the beach down from Ocean Road in Grangetown.
He can now be identified as Alex Hardy, 32, from the Stockton area. A report will be prepared for the coroner.

A body has been found on the beach in Grangetown after a man went into the sea in Sunderland.
Flowers left where man disappeared
The search for a missing man has resumed in Sunderland. He went missing yesterday when he went into the sea after his dog ran in. A woman was rescued from the water and taken to hospital.
Coastguard to comb beach at low tide for missing man
HM Coastguard are going to "comb the stretch of beach" where the missing man in Sunderland was last seen tonight.
The search will take place on the beach at low tide, which is 10pm.
After that, they will assess whether to abandon their search for the evening.
Weather dependent, they may have to wait and resume their search at first light tomorrow.

Woman taken to hospital after trying to rescue dog at sea
A man and woman went into the sea after a dog and got into difficulty.
The woman has been taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital after being recovered from the sea.

Search continues for missing man in Sunderland
Two lifeboats, a helicopter and a search and rescue team from Humber Coastguard are currently trying to trace a man who went into the sea in Sunderland.
Police received a report from the coastguard just after 4:25pm today (Monday, 22nd September).
A man and woman went into the sea after a dog and got into difficulty.
The woman has been recovered and taken to hospital but the coastguard and police are still searching for the man following the incident close to the promenade in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.
Search underway for missing man who ran into the sea
A search is currently underway in Sunderland after reports of a man running into the sea.
Police were called by the coastguard just after 4:25pm today, Monday (22nd September) after reports of a man and woman in the sea.
It is believed a man and woman were walking two dogs and went into the sea after one of the dogs ran in.
The woman has been recovered from the sea and is currently in an ambulance on her way to hospital.
Searches are still ongoing for the man.
