Laurel letter sells for £1,400 at Newcastle auction
A letter from one half of legendary comedy duo Laurel and Hardy that was sent to a family friend has sold for £1,400 today in Newcastle.
The letter was sold at Anderson and Garland's Fine Art & Antiques sale by Mrs Miller's daughter, also called Margaret, who is now 88 and lives in Hexham.
A spokesman for Anderson and Garland said they are "delighted" with the sum.

The letter is being sold at Anderson and Garland's Fine Art & Antiques sale by Mrs Miller's daughter, also called Margaret, who is now 88 and lives in Hexham.
Fred Wyrley-Birch, an auctioneer at Anderson & Garland, says Laurel always had strong North East connections.

A letter from one half of legendary comedy duo Laurel and Hardy that was sent to a family friend goes under the hammer today in Newcastle.
The signed and dated note from Stan Laurel was sent to Margaret Miller in 1960, 70 years after the star went to school with her husband Arthur in Tynemouth when they were both young boys.
The letter, on letterhead paper from Laurel's address in Santa Monica, California, is dated March 24th and thanks Mrs Miller for her belated Christmas card calendar.
The letter is being sold at Anderson and Garland's Fine Art & Antiques sale by Mrs Miller's daughter, also called Margaret, who is now 88 and lives in Hexham.
