Man charged after incident at Northallerton police station

A 25-year-old man from Darlington, who was arrested in connection with an incident at Northallerton police station where staff were evacuated and a bomb disposal unit were called in, has been charged with a number of offences.

He is due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 4th September 2014, charged with three counts of making threats to kill, one count of making an explosive device, one count of impersonating a police officer by possessing an item of uniform and one count of possessing cannabis.

Local describes moment bomb disposal unit arrived

A bomb disposal unit from Catterick has been dispatched to Northallerton police station, after officers found a suspicious package inside.

Police have now closed the station, and part of Northallerton High Street.

North Yorkshire Police has positioned officers around Northallerton station, while a military bomb disposal team attend to a 'suspicious package'.
