'Hartlepool Vision' sets out blueprint for regeneration

Hartlepool Council are set to unveil a new blueprint for the town centre as part of a regeneration project.

Businesses, landowners and residents will gather today for the launch of the 'Hartlepool Vision' at the town's Maritime Experience.

Through 'Hartlepool Vision', the council hopes to bring new jobs to the town through the regeneration of eight areas of Hartlepool:

  • Hartlepool town centre
  • Jacksons Landing
  • Trincomalee Wharf
  • The marina
  • Church Street
  • Seaton Carew
  • Wynyard
  • The Port

"The town has many great assets, such as Hartlepool's Maritime Experience and the marina, but we must build on that success with a bold and achievable plan for regenerating the wider area, especially unused sites such as Jacksons Landing and the Trincomalee Wharf.

"It also provides the opportunity to grow the town's advanced manufacturing,

energy and process sectors, drive forward innovation, investment and jobs.

"Our aim is to create major new retail and leisure facilities, increase the town's profile as a visitor destination and produce much-needed job opportunities.

"The unveiling of the Hartlepool Vision will mark the start of a discussion among Hartlepool residents, businesses and landowners, to ensure that the right decisions are made for the future of our town.

"The Hartlepool Vision will also pave the way for the creation of a detailed Masterplan which will explore in depth the full potential of the areas and propose realistic solutions for what can be achieved.

"It sends out a clear message that Hartlepool is very much open for business and I hope that over the coming months everyone with an interest in the future of Hartlepool will contribute to the debate so that together we can achieve the very best for the future of our town."

– Councillor Christopher Akers-Belcher, the Leader of Hartlepool Borough Council
