One in ten people in the North East are out of work. Unemployment figures show the region's figures are rising where other areas are seeing a reduction. 10.3% of people are currently unemployed.

Unemployment figures show 134,000 people are unemployed in the North East. 1,000 more people are unemployed. The region has the highest unemployment in the country and is only one of three places where unemployment has seen no improvement.
