Wallace and Gromit's favourite cheese now exclusive to Yorkshire
Wallace and Gromit's favourite cheese has been given protected status by the European Commission, meaning only the original product made in the Wensleydale area is allowed to call itself Yorkshire Wensleydale.
The crumbly cheese is made at Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes, with milk from local farms, bringing in £10m to the local economy. Sales of the cheese were dipping during the 1990s, until the cartoon duo adopted it as their favourite and made it famous around the world.
