Little Mix engagement

X Factor winners Little Mix returned the South Shields for the first time since the show in 2011. They performed at the Sound Waves Festival at Bents Park.

It is the home town to both Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards, who just got engaged to One Direction's Zayn Malik. She showed Rachel Sweeney the engagement ring that sparked a media frenzy!

Perrie Edwards talked about her engagement to Zayn Malik while she was back in her hometown of South Shields. She called Zayn a 'lucky duck' and showed off her three-diamond ring. Off camera her family said it is a wonderful time and that they are all delighted.

Joe McElderry has spoken about how happy he is for his X Factor friend Perrie Edwards. Perrie, from Little Mix, and Joe are both from South Shields. He said Perrie looks really happy.

Perrie Edwards performed at Soundwaves 2013 with girl band Little Mix last night. Backstage, she showed off her engagement ring. Perrie's mother said off camera that she had never seen her little girl so happy and that it had been on the cards for a while.

Perrie Edwards is from South Tyneside, and so is bandmate Jade Thirlwall. It is the first time the pair have performed in their hometown since The X Factor in 2011.

South Shields singers Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards will be performing in their home town with their Little Mix band mates this weekend.

The girl group are headlining the Sound Waves music festival at Bents Park.

The line up at the open air gig also includes Joe McElderry.

After much speculation, it has been confirmed that Little Mix star Perrie Edwards is engaged to One Direction singer Zayn Malik.

The couple walked the red carpet at the premiere of One Direction film This Is Us last night in London. Perrie was wearing a diamond ring on her engagement finger.

Perrie's mother confirmed their plans to marry on Real Radio.
