Olympic tickets go on sale

Tickets for the London 2012 Olympic Football Tournament will go on sale today a 11am today.

The Tournament will take place at six iconic venues in cities across the UK including Cardiff, Coventry, Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester and London.

Fans in the North East can see Brazil, Spain and Mexico at St James' Park.

Team GB will play at Middlesbrough

It's been confirmed Team GB will play their Olympic warm-up matches at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium. There'll be two games taking place as a double-header on July 20. The women's team will take on Sweden, before the men's team meet Brazil.

It's going to be a unique and historic occasion - Great Britain have never fielded a women's football team before and their hasn't been a GB men's team for more than 40 years.

Full Report: Olympic football in Newcastle

The eyes of the world will be looking on the region as Brazil, Spain and Mexico's football teams battle it out at St. James' Park.

They'll be playing at Newcastle's ground which, for the duration of the games, will revert to being called St James' Park as opposed to the Sports Direct Arena.

While some fans may be disappointed that Team GB won't be coming too, there is speculation that they'll play at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium as part of a testing programme beforehand.

Olympic Football Fixtures at St James' Park revealed

NEWCASTLE United fans now know which fixtures from the London 2012 Olympics will be played at St James' Park after the draw at Wembley Stadium today.

The confirmed dates, teams and times for the St James' Park fixture are now confirmed.

July 26 14:30 Mexico v South Korea

July 26 17:15 Gabon v Switzerland

July 29 17:00 Spain v Honduras

July 29 19:45 Japan v Morocco

August 1 14:30 Brazil v New Zealand

August 4 17:00 Winner C v Runner-up D

1.5 million football tickets will be up for grabs when they go on sale in the UK. There is also speculation that a pre Olympic match between Team GB and Brazil will take place at Middlesbrough's Riverside stadium a week before the official Olympic football kicks off.
